Who Will Be Using The Website

Now that i have a list of basic functions that the site will have i need to identify who will be using the website, i came up with the following list:

  • Designer/design company
  • The supermarket owners
  • Public
  • Business partners
  • Media
  • Basic Functions Of The Site

The primary reason people will be going onto the Sainsbury's website are to purchase their groceries online and then get them delivered to an address, though this is the primary objective of the website people will be expecting other services available. We will have to make available “non-core products” such as broadband, insurance services, financial services and mobile.

The users of the website will also want ways of contacting the supermarket. Phone numbers, addresses, email addresses and fax numbers should be provided.

other functions of the site should include complaints services, store locator, opening times, pre-ordering services, price checking and career/employment details

    The Waterfall Model

    Waterfall Model

The waterfall model gets its name from its sequential process that flows in a downwards motion. This model is often criticised for its inability to take the user into account, generally the user would be unable to navigate the interface without making a mistake. The version on the left is an updated and modified version of the model, the original would be unable to “flow” backwards to be re-edited, this is because its mostly used in instances where it would be to costly and time consuming to go back and re-design, re-build or re-test. When this model was first in effect there were no formal software development methodologies.
